Goodbye, mate.

I can't believe that Steve Irwin has died. I've always really liked him, crazy and dangerous as he was. Above all, he really seemed to love and respect the animals that he was working with. It's pretty amazing that of all the possible animals that he's handled, he was killed by a stingray, a fish that's usually considered to be safe and docile.

Bill and I are going on a cruise in December with his family and were planning on swimming with stingrays. Now, I'm not so sure...

I came back and read that...I didn't mean to be insensitive, but it kinda sounds that way.

I loved that guy...I still can't stop thinking about the whole incident and his 'approach to life'.

And then I relate it to me and my husband...bad...What would I do if he died from a freakish accident? Why do guys like to live on the edge? (I beg him to wear his helmet on his motorcycle...darn those politicians in LR!) Was his 'passion' for animals more intense than his passion for his family?? Is my hubby that way? Well, not for animals, but for other things?

So many questions and so many things to think about...and now, here it is 9/11. I have ALWAYS felt bad for the children...of victims, military, whoever. Poor Bindi and Bob...What would it have been like for me to loose my dad at 8 years old? Would I be screwed up for life? *sigh*

I remember actually being excited for him when Bindi was born! I wanted to see that same passion for this little creature he brought into the world with his wife...and the passion WAS there...

I wonder if he was a Christian or not...isn't that wierd? Well, a little. I want to know if I'll get to meet him one day...but then again, I doubt, among all the who's who in Heaven, any of them will stand out :) So there's a slice of my brain...maybe I need to start my own blog...

Kat,
I think we've had a lot of the same thoughts this past week. Bill was actually at the WTC a week before 9/11 doing business. The fact is that God is in control no matter what, but it's those "senseless", freakish deaths that make it so difficult to grapple with that fact.

I will say this for Steve Irwin: that man packed more life into his 40 years than most people pack into 90.
